The TORQ22D Random Orbital Polisher features a large 21mm throw for high performance detailing and paint correction. Streamlined Engineering (SI)
TORQ Tools applied a Streamlined Integration engineering approach to make the TORQ22D the first large-throw polisher to accept 5’’ and 6’’ backing plates without extensive modifications, or voiding of warranties. Detailers can easily switch between 5 inch and 6 inch backing plates for improved versatility. Simply use the included hex key to remove and swap backing plates to handle any size job. The TORQ22D backing plates are constructed from heavy-duty materials to last for years of detailing. Traditional large-throw dual-action polishers are limited to one pad and backing plate size, or require extensive modification and counterweight changes to change pad sizes without voiding the warranty. Different jobs require different size buffing pads and backing plates. The TORQ22D comes equipped with a 6” backing plate for use with all 6.5 inch buffing and polishing pads. Polishing large, flat panels like roofs, hoods, and doors is made easy with the included 6’’ TORQ22D backing plate, and smaller and more contoured spots are easier to polish with the optional 5’’ backing plate. The TORQ22D backing plate uses rugged synthetic materials for superior heat resistance and durability over extended polishing jobs. Bi-directional cooling channels funnel fresh air in to cool the buffing pad and the backing plate with every spin around the TORQ22D machine. Dispersing heat from polishing extends the lifespan of buffing pads, backing plates, and the machine polisher itself. The low-profile plate features a beveled edge to help fit the buffing pad into tight areas around brush guards, roof racks, door mirrors, bumpers, door jambs, and more. The custom-fitted interface bracket that attaches the backing plate to the TORQ22D is secured with durable metal fittings for a solid bond.

Integrated Cooling
Power tools get hot during extended work times. Excess heat reduces the efficiency of moving mechanical parts, wears down bearings and motors, and produces inconsistent polishing results. TORQ engineers designed the 22D with an Integrated Cooling system that channels air through the machine to cool all the internal components. The moving parts like motors and gears draw fresh air in through induction vents, run it over hot components, and then expel the excess heat through the exhaust vents. By using the machine’s moving parts to also move air, TORQ engineers removed the need for additional cooling fans or heat sinks, saving added weight, size, and expense.

Old style machine polishers have two modes: off, or very on! Once the user clicks the switch on old machines, they jerk into motion.
